Area51Sports has created wood bat-turning kits for all 5 of its stock models.  These are great for the hobbyist or for high school shop projects.  Baseball players can turn their own bats and get a real appreciation of the physical properties of wood bats and the work that goes into making them.

We include a model specific project booklet, a DVD of us hand-turning a wood bat, and model specific weighted billets.

Each bat model at a certain length takes a specific weight wood billet.  If you order a billet and don't specify the weight needed, it is not likely you will turn a usable wood bat.  We match the model and length you requested with the specific weighted wood billet.  This means that if you follow the bat measurement sheet we include in the kit, you should turn a baseball bat that is pretty close to perfect weight (-1 to -3 drop).  Two billet kits come with a non-weight specific practice billet (a junker billet).  Also, kits are available with our exclusive Express Billets.  These billets allow for quicker turning times to finish and less shavings to clean up.  Express Billets are matched for weight to the specific model and length.

Additional weight specific billets are also available separately. 

Coaches, this is a great project for fall.  Have team members turn their own wood bats to use in spring wood bat tournaments.
